Purpose

Promoting of international friendship, the development of the industry, trade and culture of Fukuoka city and its outskirts , thus aiming at establishing Fukuoka city as an international , economic and cultural city and contributing to the improvement of the welfare of the citizens.

Since old times Fukuoka has played an important role as a “ window“ to the exchange with the continent of China and also as an economic base of Kyushu. Now that role has become increasingly larger and its ties to the world as “ the base city of exchange open towards Asia” have become deeper than ever.

While being a big city of about 1.4 million people, the city is blessed with rich nature and has a good access by land, sea and air. The“heart of hospitality” which is essential to the promotion of the visitors’industry and generous and open-minded people with this spirit. This Fukuoka is the very international city suitable for the stage of future conventions.

Based on this potential of Fukuoka city ,the foundation of Fukuoka Convention Center has realized various external and internal conventions. The new “ encounters”and the“ moving emotions”created by the positive hardwares and softwares on the stages of the 4 facilities. From here are born the future conventions seen by Asia and the world.

Seeing Fukuoka as the stage for conventions, the biggest attraction would be the good environment of access. Fukuoka, professing to be “ the gateway to Asia”. The Fukuoka airport with a role as its entrance is connected to 23 cities abroad, 85 minutes’ distance to Seoul and 100 minutes’ distance to Shanghai. Also with about 90 minutes to Tokyo and about 65 minutes to Osaka, you can travel smoothly inside the country. Moreover the good access of 11minutes by subway from the airport to the city center is also appealing.

Land transportation is borne by the Japan Railway and the highway. Especially the Japan Railway makes traveling inside Kyushu speedier due to the construction of the bullet train. And what is unforgettable is the Hakata bay which can be said to be the setting for the Fukuoka convention zone. The number of its yearly passengers getting on and off is about 2 million people, including the 500 thousand passengers from the foreign ship service.A jetfoil connecting Fukuoka and Pusan in about 3 hours is running from this leading international passenger port in our country.

While being a port city facing the Sea of Genkai, it is also blessed with rich greenery. This unique natural environment is one of the big attractions of Fukuoka.There is the sea, there is the river, there is the mountain.Moreover such a peacefullandscape and an advanced city function have a well-balanced harmony and blend beautifully together. This very fusion of the natural environment and the city function is the appearance of Fukuoka, the city of international friendship.
